In a world so characterized by chaos and excess, being able to focus your mind on a single object is the greatest relaxation there is.

When the world is wicked, it is harder for morality to survive. Great leaders are shamed. Thieves and manipulators are celebrated. Good deeds are seen as weak, and wicked deeds, strong. Even though the path leads to happiness for all, Nobody will walk it, because the first one to walk it to be struck down. We do not go to hell after death, our wickedness brings us to hell directly.

To trust others is like giving them privileged access control.  If you trust the right people, they can save you from harming yourself when you are incapable of saving yourself. If you trust malicious people, you give them the key to rewrite your very being. You trust their advice, their reprimands, but they are all based on the advisor's personal desire. It can be overwhelming knowing who to trust. Hence the importance of knowledge that is sanditthiko (self-evident). But we are blessed. When you are lost and you feel there's no one, you can always trust in the eternal friend of all humanity, the enlightened one and his teachings.
